Note: I advocate the wise use of psychotropic medications when doctors and patients are fully informed. However, I think that as a generalisation members of the medical profession and the public have an imbalanced perspective regarding how they work, their value and their side effect profile. It is my understanding that the pharmaceutical industry has been influential in exaggerating the benefits of these drugs and downplaying their risks as well as giving misleading information as to how they work.
